# The Data Landscape

# Data Landscape

Each entity of Data has some metadata,
like a Producer, Owner, and someone that possesses the Data as well as stuff like a generation date and so on.

An Enterprise has a broad landscape of Data, these Data is scattered around in different systems.
The Asset Management, already found that sources.
Now it's the duty of the EAM Tool to Visualize it.

# EAM—Enterprise Architecture Management

The function of an EAM Tool is to display this Landscape and Point to where Data resides.

There should only be links from Data stores to EAM, except the top most layer Strategy & Transformation. Because the EAM is the store for Strategy.

This part of my notes here is heavenly influenced by the "LeanIX EAM" Product, it's what I'm familiar with and what I think is easy to digest.
Usually I try to not mention products in my notes, but I think the guy's there did a great job of explaining the fundamentals so honour to whom it deserves.

So now we know what Data is, we know where it resides, and it's all neat and tidy.
Woho! 🥳
What's do we do with all that shiny Data?
